**No matter what, the bad past always hunts you down!**

Like everybody, I was anticipating 'The Raid 3', instead I got this one. Iko Uwais is not just a rising star, he is making Indonesian films internationally recognised. But seems as fast he's rising, as fast he's sinking. The reason is heavily relied on martial arts. In real life, he himself an artist too. But taking into the account like from Tony Jaa, and Hong Kong, Chinese film industries. That's a one generation thing. To keep the industry on the float in the long term, it takes good stories and performances, alongside good production.

'The Raid' duology was good, but not lucky anymore. Basically, this is the same pattern with different characters and situations compared to those two titles. The stunt fans might enjoy it, but what terribly lacked in this film was the a good story. The majority of the film goers, including film critics believe in that. Hence it did not deliver as expected. By the way, this is a generation of CGI film like 'Mad Max: Fury Road'. Yet some kids from the 90s still love to see a pure martial art films.

It is an action packed film. A gangster theme. The day when a notorious gangster leader named Lee escapes the prison, a young man was found unconscious on the beach, then he was treated by an aspiring young doctor. Lee finds out about this amnesiac man and sends his finest men to retrieve him. But nothing goes as planned. The confrontation between them slowly restores his lost memory. Defeating all the fighters, he's set for the final standoff against Lee which will bring an end to the narration.

> ❝You saved me before. I need you to save me one more time.❞

The production was good, though the performances were ordinary. Because all the focus were the action sequences. At least I expected decent dialogues. It was a weird romance platform, a sub-genre. Romance can blossom anywhere, anytime, but weakly developed to believe it the least. Not the best martial art film too. There were some twists in the narration, but none were surprising enough. The film would have achieved a better result if it had done well in the stunt parts. I'm sure there will be some people who would like it or liked it. I usually like martial art films, but not this one, not my cup of tea.

Sometimes the opening does not matter if the rest of the tale recovers well. Very clichéd initiation, but it did not get better. Especially the conclusion was a big let down. The entire film was leaned on Iko's role. Also the character Lee was too much hyped. In between them, the rest of the cast was discarded. Overall, I don't think they have missed an opportunity in here, because I felt nothing were designed so well to be a decent film at any level. From familiarity to the predictability, the storytelling never had the upper hand to get better. Some people think it is worth watching at least once, but according to me not. All I would say is it's your call.

Not a bad movie, but coming straight off of _The Raid_ and _The Night Comes For Us_ did make _Headshot_ a little disappointing. Iko Uwais movies are still a safe bet in my book though.

If it could have cut out the last two to three of the seven or so endings, then I could maybe have seen _Black_ _Butterfly_ getting a bigger score. As it stands, I can get it to fresh by the skin of its teeth.

It all starts with some stories on abductions here and there then it goes to a lonely writer whom his wife left and he meets up a girl who helps to sell his house and since he can’t write a proper story in a while he gets all kind of irritated goes out for a drive to a nearby café so while going there on the road he met up this truck driver who does not allow him to overtake so somehow he gets in front and curses the truck driver and goes and gets settled in the diner with the girl he met so the truck driver gets there and he tries to pick up a fight with him that is when this stranger guy puts himself between the writer and the truck driver and the stranger threatens the truck driver and both of them leave off so the writer feels that he should have thanked the guy who saved him from that fight so goes finding him and then offers to give him a lift and then the writer insists that he take a break at his place then move on to wherever he was going but as soon as the writer takes him to his place he sees that the stranger has no intention of leaving soon….wait a min the rest of the movie u have to watch don’t worry I have not spoiled anything for you
It is a onetime watch and with good twists. So I would suggest this movie for everyone to watch.

**I like my ending better! Not the one comes after that!**

It was a little surprise film, but not that great. I really enjoyed it. It was thrilling, suspense and fast paced storytelling. I usually like this type of flicks. If you too prefer entertainment over a masterpiece, then you would enjoy it as well. Only the beginning was slow, but once the concept of the film ignited, it was a non-stop entertainment. So the later parts are like between the two characters that took place in an isolated place. A great setting and with all the development, the film totally gets you.

A struggling alcoholic writer who got rescued by a stranger at a diner, invites him to the home for the stormy night ahead. Later the stranger decides to help him out with his writing, so his stay extends. With talking to each other, the writer comes to know what kind of person he's brought into his house. His agenda ires the stranger and hence a conflict begins between them. The rest of the film is to disclose who ends where with a twist at the end.

When the second act begins, that's when your guessing game starts. At the end of that section, I had in my mind that at least 4 to 5 possible paths the story could head. With that kind of option, who won't enjoy such film. Whatever I predicted, that did not happen. That's another reason why I liked it. The twist was good, and so the performances by Jonathan Rhye Meyers and Antonio Banderas. BUT when all was going well, the end scene before the credits, disappointed me. It should have not been in the film at all. That's why I did not like 'Prince of Persia' too. Apart from that final 10 seconds, it was a good film.

MODEST SPOILERS

Anyone as old as me will remember TV's "Laugh In" and comedian Flip Wilson's oft repeated line "The devil made me do it!" It became, like "Sock it to me" from the same show, a Buzz Phrase for the time.

"The Devil's Candy" certainly fits into "the devil made me do it" category as far as character motivation. Here the devil makes one character kill and another paint dark disturbing pictures of which they have no memory of painting. But rather than cliché us or bore us with the same old "call a priest" which we have seen a million times, the story plays out as a very human drama of one man dealing with what doctors would call a mental illness, and another dealing with an obsession that is costing him his family.

Yet do not think the film is without chills. Indeed it has some extremely disturbing and violent scenes! However these are done with a modicum of gore and blood so they are not gross out horrors; rather than true horrors as they let you in on what is happening just enough to worry your mind.

The film also makes a subtle statement about how we as a society fail to treat mental patients with violent pasts.

Acting all around is top notch. Ethan Embry, Shiri Appleby (nice to see after not having seen her in a while), Kiara Glasco, and Pruitt Taylor Vince never once drop the ball; bringing us fully into their worlds.
Goes largely unresolved, but still has a good grasp of the technical aspects and some small amount of originality.
